Football: David Moyes will leave Everton at the end of the season

LONDON - Everton manager David Moyes will leave the Toffees at the end of the season, the English Premier League football club confirmed on Thursday.

The move paves the way for Moyes, who has been at the Goodison Park helm for 11 seasons, to be named the new manager of EPL giants Manchester United.

On Wednesday, Alex Ferguson sent shockwaves through world football by announcing his retirement from the role at the end of the season.

Moyes, 50, met Everton chairman Bill Kenwright in London on Wednesday, hours after Ferguson revealed he would be stepping down at Old Trafford after amassing 38 trophies in 26 years.

The Everton manager's contract expires on June 30.

The club confirmed that Moyes will take charge of the final two games of the season at home to West Ham and away at Chelsea.
