SINGAPORE - The Singapore men's national floorball team were defeated by Thailand 4-8 on Thursday (July 6) at the inaugural Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation (AOFC) Cup in Bangkok.

The hosts looked the more threatening team and jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period.

Tristan See scored twice for top seeds Singapore in the second period but the Republic still trailed 3-5 at the end of the second period.

The Thais, ranked 22nd in the world, added another three goals in the third and final period to seal victory against their world No. 17 opponents.

Singapore also lost to Thailand 2-8 last December in their previous match-up.

En route to the final, Singapore went unbeaten in the group stage, scoring 43 and conceding only one, before dominating South Korea in the semi finals 11-0.

The Singapore Floorball Association announced it will host the first women's edition of AOFC Cup in 2018, which will be held at Our Tampines Hub next June.
