SINGAPORE - Team Singapore's male fencers won a bronze medal at the Halle European Cadet Circuit on Sunday (Dec 10). 

The quartet of Darren Tan, Yeo Jing Zhe, Jonathan Au Eong and Kieren Lock won all three of their bouts in the round-robin stage to rank top among 19 teams going into the knock-out rounds. 

They then beat STG Moers Dusseldorf and Germany 2 en route to the semi-finals, before falling to Germany 45-33 in the semi-finals despite an early lead.

The Republic later bounced back to defeat Russia 45-39 to finish third in the team event.
