Bowling: Singapore women's trios triumph at Asian Tenpin Championships

Singapore's Joey Yeo, Geraldine Ng and New Hui Fen won the women's trios gold medal at the 23rd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Bangkok on Thursday.

They chalked up a total of 1,900 pinfalls to beat South Korea's Jung Da Wun, Jeon Eun Hee and Son Yun Hee, who finished with a total of 1,873 pinfalls, to the title.

The victory is the Republic's first medal at these championships, held at Bangkok's Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl Ratchayothin.

Indonesia's Tannya Roumimper, Nadia Pramanik and Alisha Nabila Larasati (1,863) took the bronze.

New led the way by contributing 692 pinfalls while Ng and Yeo chipped in with 623 and 585 respectively.

A total of 26 teams took part in the women's trios competition. The tournament started last Saturday and ends on Monday.
