Bowling: Malaysians make clean sweep at 46th Singapore International Open

Singapore's best keglers have been swept aside by the cream of Malaysia in the Open and step-ladder finals at the 46th Singapore International Open at Orchid Country Club on Saturday.

In the men's Open, Malaysia's Kang Bo Long finished top, ahead of 41 other competitors, with a total of 3,457 pinfalls.

Finishing second is his compatriot Rafiq Ismail (3,413) while Singaporean Keith Saw (3,403) came in third. Adrian Ang, another Malaysian, was fourth with a score of 3,401.

Ang turned the tables in the step-ladder finals when he easily beat Kang (191-166, 197-171).

In the women's Open, four-time Malaysian national champion Shalin Zulkifli lived up to her reputation by topping the 30-strong pool with 3,433 pinfalls, ahead of Singapore's Shayna Ng (3,374), the reigning Qubica-AMF World Cup champion.

Two-time Sportsgirl of the Year Jazreel Tan was third (3,330) and Malaysia's Sin Li Jane finished fourth (3,305).

Sin, the women's singles gold medallist at last year's Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship, emerged victorious in the step-ladder finals when she beat Shalin (192-190, 193-146).
