NEW ORLEANS (REUTERS) - Stephen Curry scored 53 points and defending National Basketball Association champions Golden State won their third consecutive game to open the season, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 134-120.
It was the third consecutive double-digit loss for the Pelicans, who were playing their home opener at Smoothie King Arena.
In other games, the Jazz defeated the Pacers 97-76, Derrick Favors scoring 18 points to lead six players in double figures; Carmelo Anthony carried the Knicks with 37 points including 11 in the fourth quarter as New York defeated the Washington Wizards 117-110; while the Grizzlies beat the Nets 101-91.
