Basketball: Singapore Slingers stretch unbeaten run to nine games

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Slingers have extended their unbeaten streak to nine in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) with a 80-58 win over Pilipinas MX3 Kings at the OCBC Arena on Sunday (Jan 24) afternoon.

After a slow start where they trailed their opponents from the Philippines 16-24 after the first quarter, the Slingers roared back into the game with stellar performances from American imports Justin Howard (24 points) and Xavier Alexander (21 points).

National players Wu Qingde and Wong Wei Long also contributed with nine and 15 points respectively, while Arizona Reid led the way for the fifth-placed Kings with 22 points.

The Slingers, who cement their place at the top of the league with a 12-2 win-loss ratio, next play Saigon Heat at home on Jan 31.
