Basketball: Mavericks edge out Nuggets 144-143 in highest-scoring NBA tie since 2012

DENVER (AFP) - Raymond Felton scored the winning basket with 1.5 seconds left in the second overtime as the Dallas Mavericks outlasted Denver 144-143, spoiling a 47-point performance by Nuggets' Danilo Gallinari.

The 287 points make this the highest-scoring NBA game since 2012, when Oklahoma City and Minnesota combined for 289 points.

Dallas survived blowing a 21-point half-time lead before Felton went on to score five of his 11 points in the second overtime period on Friday night.

The Nuggets' Kenneth Faried attempted a hook shot over Felton at the buzzer but missed.

Dirk Nowitzki tallied 25 points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks who are already assured of the number seven play-off seed in the Western Conference.
