NBA players Robin Lopez and Greivis Vasquez of the New Orleans Pelicans will make an appearance in Singapore at the June 21-23 NBA 3X three-on-three tournament at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
Besides the two players, fans will also get to see the famous Laker Girls cheerleading team and Rocky the Mountain Lion, the Denver Nuggets' mascot.
The NBA also announced Standard Chartered Bank as presenting partner for the event, which is part of the league's global fan development programme.
"We're very excited to partner with the NBA to bring the NBA 3X to Singapore," said Ray Ferguson, StanChart's chief executive officer (Singapore).
"Basketball is one of Singapore's most popular team sports and we're looking forward to a fantastic experience for all the participants and spectators."
Vasquez - the Pelicans' starting point guard - was selected 28th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft and holds the distinction as the first Venezuelan-born player drafted into the NBA.
Lopez - the Pelicans' starting centre - was originally selected 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2008 NBA Draft. Lopez and his brother Brook of the Brooklyn Nets are the first set of twins chosen in the first round of the same NBA draft.
"I'm very excited to visit Singapore for NBA 3X and help celebrate the game I love so much," said Lopez. "I hear Singapore has a loyal contingent of NBA fans and I look forward to bringing the excitement of the NBA to the country and witnessing a tremendous display of local basketball talent."
NBA 3X will be conducted in 14 countries outside of the United States this summer.
