Singapore shuttlers Vanessa Neo and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta have reached the quarter-finals of the All-England Championships in Birmingham, after upsetting tournament sixth seeds Markis Kido and Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth of Indonesia.
The Singapore pair, ranked 18th in the world, came from behind to beat their No. 7 opponents 19-21, 21-10, 21-18.
Said Neo: "It was an unexpected win. Even though they are ranked higher and we lost twice before to them, we didn't let it affect us. We hope to bring today's confidence and condition into tomorrow's game and hopefully cause another upset."
They face second seeds Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia next. They are the last Singaporeans standing at the prestigious tournament.
The local pair, as well as the Indonesians will also be in action at the OUE Singapore Open, held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from April 8-13.
