Badminton: Singaporeans booted out of world championships after defeat in singles

Singapore's shuttlers have all been knocked out of the badminton world championships in Guangzhou, after Gu Juan and Derek Wong lost their women's and men's singles matches on Wednesday.

Gu, the world No. 20, lost 21-16, 17-21, 9-21 to Thailand's world No. 5 Ratchanok Intanon.

Wong, ranked 52nd in the world, was no match for Malaysia's world No. 17 Daren Liew, going down 21-13, 21-13.

Mixed doubles pair Vanessa Neo and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta lost their opening match on Tuesday.
