SINGAPORE - National badminton player Yeo Jia Min won the Jaya Raya Yonex Sunrise Junior Grand Prix (Under-19) on Sunday (Sept 18).
The 17-year-old fourth seed, who is ranked 10th in the world junior rankings, defeated South Korean third seed Kim Ga Eun 21-19, 21-19 in the final.
Yeo had toppled the top seed and world No. 42 Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 21-15, 9-21, 21-17 in the semi-finals.
The victory gave the Singaporean rising star her second badminton title of this year. She won her first career women's singles title at the Vietnam Open Grand Prix in July.
Yeo was The Straits Times Star of the Month award winner for July.
