Badminton: Indonesia's Simon Santoso upsets Du Pengyu for place in S'pore Open final

Indonesia shuttler Simon Santoso booked a place in the OUE Singapore Open final when he upset China's Du Pengyu 16-21, 21-17, 21-17 on Saturday.

Santoso, a former world No. 3 now ranked 52nd, will play world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei on Sunday after the Malaysian beat No. 25 K. Srikanth of India 21-19, 21-18.

The women's singles final will see a repeat of last year's final of the clash between China's world No. 1 Li Xuerui and defending champion Wang Yihan (No. 3).

Li beat South Korea's No. 5 Sung Ji Hyun 21-13, 21-13 while Wang outplayed team-mate, world No. 16 Han Li, 21-18, 21-12.

World mixed doubles champion Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir survived a scare against China's No. 17 Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin, coming back from a game down to eventually win 17-21, 21-11, 21-19.

The Indonesian world No. 1 pair will play compatriots Riky Widianto and Puspita Richi Dili (No. 13) after the two took out No. 6 Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na 20-22, 21-17, 21-16.

The women's doubles, however, saw China's No. 17 Luo Ying and Luo Yu hand a walkover to team-mates and second seeds Bao Yixin and Tang Jinhua (No. 3) after Luo Ying injured her left knee. Bao and Tang will play top seeds and world No. 2 Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark.

The men's doubles will see a contest between new pairing Cai Yun and Lu Kai of China (No. 360) will play Lee Sheng-mu and Tsai Chia-hsin of Chinese Taipei (No. 7).
