NINE-TIME champions China swept into the Sudirman Cup semi-finals on home ground, after thumping Germany 3-0 on Thursday night.
World No. 1 mixed doubles pair Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei got the hosts off to a great start in the first quarter-finals of badminton's biennial mixed team championships, beating Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels 21-9, 21-11 in 35 minutes in Dongguan.
Then, five-time men's singles world champion Lin Dan gave Marc Zwiebler a lesson 21-12, 21-15 in 50 minutes before Fu Haifeng and Zhang took care of Fuchs and Peter Kaesbauer 21-15, 21-17 in 33 minutes in the men's doubles.
The women's singles between Li Xuerui and Karin Schnaase and the women's doubles between Tang Yuanting/Yu Yang and Isabel Herttrich/Michels were not played.
China face either Indonesia or Chinese Taipei in Saturday's semi-finals.
In the second quarter-final, South Korea beat Malaysia 3-1, with former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei, just back from a doping ban, winning the losing side's only point when he overcame Son Wan Ho 21-17, 21-12.
The Koreans meet either Denmark or Japan in their semi-final.
