AYG: Xiu Yi takes silver in 10m air pistol, giving S'pore 3rd shooting medal

TEH Xiu Yi won Singapore's third shooting medal at the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing on Tuesday.

On day four of competition in China, the 17-year-old, who aspires to be a shooting coach, shot 195.4 to clinch the silver medal in the girls' 10m air pistol event, three points behind winner Kim Eun Yeong of South Korea.

Princhuda Methaweewong of Thailand took bronze.

Xiu Yi's team-mate Chua Shin Yoong, also 17, just missed out on the eight-girl final, ending ninth among 33 competitors.

On Monday, Sean Tay took silver in the boys' 10m air rife, one day after Martina Veloso won a bronze in the same event for girls.

Singapore is joint fifth on the medal tally with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals, behind China, South Korea, North Korea and Chinese Taipei.
