Asian Youth Games: Singapore swimmers start with a splash, win gold and silver

Singapore's swimmers added to the nation's Asian Youth Games medal haul by winning one gold and one silver on the opening day of the swimming competition in Nanjing on Monday.

Quah Zheng Wen won the 200m butterfly in 1min 59.98secs. He finished 0.03 seconds ahead of South Korea's Jung Jae Youn, who timed 2:00.01.

Thailand's Tanakrit Kittiya was third in 2:02.06.

The girls' 4x100m freestyle relay squad of Samantha Yeo, Rachel Tseng, Hoong En Qi, and Marina Chan came in second to South Korea. Thailand were third.

Singapore now boast a total of one gold, two silvers and two bronzes at the youth event.
