Associate Professor Tan Teck Koon (left), head of the Singapore delegation for the Asean University Games, presenting the Republic's flag to canoeist Mervyn Toh at University Town, the National University of Singapore, yesterday. The Singapore contingent will comprise 274 athletes and 61 officials. The Games, which will feature some 1,500 athletes from 11 countries competing across 16 sports, open officially on Sunday and end on July 19. Singapore is hosting the Games for the first time in 22 years.
