The Singapore Asean Para Games Organising Committee (Sapgoc) and Community Chest - the fund-raising arm of National Council of Social Service (NCSS) - have announced a partnership for December's Asean Para Games on home soil.
The move sees Sapgoc's proceeds from the Games' merchandise sales going to ComChest. The proceeds will be matched dollar-for-dollar under ComChest's Care and Share movement, before the funds are dispersed to various voluntary welfare organisations across Singapore.
Sapgoc hopes this could boost the profile of the Games, with an estimated 7,000 athletes, officials and volunteers set to be involved from Dec 3-9.
"As ComChest have been doing a wonderful job engaging the people over the years to raise funds for those in need, we are excited to have them as our partner," said Sapgoc's executive committee chairman, Lim Teck Yin.
"The Asean Para Games is a platform where persons with disabilities demonstrate their prowess in the sports arena," added NCSS' chief executive officer Sim Gim Guan.
"It is in the spirit of the Care and Share Movement that we urge more organisations and individuals to show their support."
