SINGAPORE - Defending champions Thailand kicked off the 8th Asean Para Games football 5-a-side competition with a 3-0 win over Vietnam at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on Friday.

Despite missing a couple of penalties, the Thais were the better side throughout, with goals from forwards Panyawut Kupan and Kittikorn Baodee securing a comfortable victory.

In the night's second match, hosts Singapore went down 0-3 to Malaysia.

Thailand will face hosts Singapore next on Sunday, while Vietnam will take on Malaysia.
