Asean Para Games: Swimmer Benson Tan records 100m and 200m free (S14) double

SINGAPORE - The hosts' gold rush in the pool continued on Day 2 of the Asean Para Games swimming meet, as Benson Tan bagged two golds.

He touched the wall first in the 100m freestyle S14, clocking 1min 1.74sec to the delight of the home crowd at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.

Joining him on the podium was team-mate Han Liang Chou, who finished third in 1:05.95.

Malaysia's Yoong Chun Wei was the silver medallist with a time of 1:05.11.

Tan also outswam his competitors in the 200m free S14, winning with a Games record of 2:14.94. Team-mate Han was third in 2:28.22, behind Malaysia's Yoong (2:25.43).

Han later added a 50m breaststroke gold SB14 to his 100m breaststroke SB14 gold from Day 1, touching home in a Games record time of 35.23sec. He finished ahead of Malaysia's Yoong (36.10sec) and team-mate Lawrence Tay (36.26sec).

Earlier, Wong Meng Ee also bagged a bronze in the men's 100m freestyle S12.

The evening session is scheduled to start at 6pm.
