SINGAPORE - In an exciting Causeway derby clash, Singapore edged Malaysia 2-1 to score the bronze in cerebral palsy football at the Asean Para Games.

The hosts broke the deadlock inside two minutes when Muhammad Mubarak's low corner was tapped in from close range by Shafiq Ariff.

Their opponents hit back just minutes later when burly striker Sobri Ghazali unleashed a right-footed thumper from 25 metres.

That effort would be topped in the 47th minute.

Left winger Mubarak sent the 3,000-strong crowd at the National Stadium into ecstasy with a powerful snapshot after neatly cutting past his marker.

It was a deserved victory for the Singaporeans, who dominated possession and forced several quality saves from Malaysia goalkeeper Shafiq Zahari.
