BEAVER CREEK, United States (AFP) - Austria's Hannes Reichelt earned his first world championship super-G gold on Thursday, topping an early run by Adrien Theaux and then watching a late charge by Dustin Cook fall just short.

Reichelt now has a world crown to go with his runner-up finish in the super-G at the 2011 worlds in Garmisch.

He also finished fourth in super-G at the 2013 event.

Reichelt charged down the Birds of Prey course in 1 min, 15.68 sec.

Canada's Cook was just 0.11 seconds back in 1:15.79, while France's Theaux grabbed the final podium spot in 1:15.92.
