SINGAPORE - Tickets will be free for all events at the Dec 3-9 Asean Para Games, which Singapore is hosting for the first time.

Singapore Asean Para Games Organising Committee chairman Lim Teck Yin hopes that this will encourage Singaporeans to support their countrymen and raise awareness of disability sports.

In addition, roadshows and carnivals will be held to allow the public to get to try out para sports.

The biennial meet will feature 15 sports - the most ever - and will see some 3,000 athletes and officials from 11 countries compete.

Singapore will be fielding its largest ever contingent, with 145 athletes set to take part. Among them, 80 will be making their debuts. The numbers could yet rise after appeals are finalised.

Lim said: "This is the first time that Singapore will be hosting the Asean Para Games and it is a key milestone event in Singapore's sporting history.

"This is a special year for all Singaporeans and we encourage everyone to come together to cheer these inspiring athletes and embrace an event that is all about inclusiveness and courage to rise above life's challenges."
