LONDON (AP) - Tottenham says Emmanuel Adebayor has been called up by Togo for the African Nations Cup, ending uncertainty over the striker's involvement in the tournament.
Adebayor had threatened to turn down the chance to represent Togo over security concerns and disagreements with its football federation over bonus payments for players, but travelled to Africa this week for talks with the country's president.
Tottenham says he will now meet up with his national team after Saturday's Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers.
Togo is scheduled to announce its 23-man squad for the African Nations Cup on Wednesday. The tournament runs from Jan 19 to Feb 10.
Tottenham, which is third in the Premier League, will be left with just one out-and-out striker - Jermain Defoe - once Adebayor departs.
