Zaobao.sg launching newsletter, alert service and Ah Boy character

SINGAPORE - News website Zaobao.sg is launching three new services which it will promote from Friday (May 25).

The Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) digital platform will offer a free news alert service, a curated e-newsletter and an animation series featuring a character called "Ah Boy".

Readers wanting to abreast with the latest developments can register for alerts twice a day via mobile messaging applications WhatsApp and Telegram.

The eNewsletter Editor's Weekly Picks will be curated by Ms Han Yong May, editor of NewsHub - part of SPH's Chinese media group.

"It will complement the current eNewsletter selection, which includes a weekday morning edition and a weekend edition," SPH said in a statement on Thursday (May 24).

Meanwhile Ah Boy will take a light-hearted look at interesting aspects of Malay, Indian and Eurasian culture in Singapore .

The advertising campaign will be launched at the Singapore Book Fair from Friday (May 25) at Capitol Singapore.

The campaign will run on various media platforms, such as outdoor ads at Buona Vista MRT station, cinema ads at Golden Village movie theatres, outdoor display, television and radio .

Ms Ang Yiting, editor of SPH's Chinese media group digital, which oversees zaobao.sg, said: "Besides consolidating a wealth of content from the three Chinese news publications, the digital platform has expanded its offerings to enhance users' experience. We hope this brand campaign will bring users into a multi-dimensional digital world beyond their conventional perception of Lianhe Zaobao."

Zaobao.sg is accessible on desktop and mobile web browsers, as well as zaobao.sg mobile apps (available on both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets). Users can also follow zaobao.sg on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
