Zaobao, Qoo10 set up CNY e-retail site

Singaporeans can now purchase Chinese New Year goodies, fashion items and household appliances all from one website.

Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao has collaborated with online retail platform Qoo10 to launch Z-Shop, a microsite with information and services related to the festive period.

Users can buy items ranging from bak kwa (barbecued pork) and mandarin oranges to cheongsam (traditional Chinese dresses) at the Z-shop - http://cny.zaobao.com - the newspaper's first foray into the e-commerce sector.

Visitors to the website, which launched on Monday, can also access content related to CNY celebrations, including information on food trends, fashion styling tips and an interactive map showing various activities taking place across Singapore during the festive period.

They can also send interactive electronic greetings and generate a lucky number for 4D lottery.

Fortune forecasts by fengshui master Tan Khoon Yong for the 12 Chinese zodiac signs in the Year of the Monkey are also available.

Said Qoo10 managing director Cho Hyun Wook: "This is an opportunity for us to assist merchants and business owners who are keen to explore e-commerce as an additional sales channel."

Ms Han Yong May, digital editor of Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Media Group, said: "Together with the delivery of content through integration of words, graphics and videos, this microsite will be a source of interesting ideas and useful information for online users, as we usher in the Year of the Monkey."
