YMCA Conversation Series launched to spur youths to action

A series of dialogues organised by the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), aimed at promoting volunteerism among youths, was launched on Saturday.

The first of the YMCA conversation series, was attended by more than 60 youth participants as well as Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Mr Lawrence Wong.

The event was organised by University-YMCA, a club set up in tertiary institutions here.

YMCA president Stephen Low hopes that these youths would be spurred on to volunteer or take up further training to develop skills useful to society.

During the dialogue, Mr Wong assured the crowd that the government stood ready to empower them. This includes past initiatives like increasing the National Youth Endowment Fund (NYEF) that supports innovative and impactful ground-up initiatives.

There are plans for about four more dialogues, revolving around topics like business and social entrepreneurship, by the end of this year.
