Singapore will create a new integrated complex in Woodlands with studio apartments and facilities like a hawker centre, medical centre, shops, seniors' activity centre and childcare centre, said Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan in a blog post on Saturday.

The multi-agency development will be located next to the Admiralty MRT Station and "promises something for everyone", said Mr Khaw.

"Residents will be able to enjoy the greater convenience and accessibility as a result of housing various facilities and services in one integrated development," he said. For example, the childcare centre will be located next to the senior care centre, encouraging the elderly and the young to mingle and interact.

Mr Khaw added that he had visited a similar development in Bilbao, Spain, when he chaired the World Cities Summit Mayors Forum earlier this year. "The project in Woodlands can be as successful as Bilbao's Alhondiga," he said.
