SINGAPORE - A woman whose arm was trapped in a mixer at a pastry shop in Ang Mo Kio was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The incident occurred at Joyus Pastries' Ang Mo Kio branch on Wednesday (Sept 20), Lianhe Wanbao reported on Thursday.

The Straits Times understands that the woman, who was in her 30s, had her right arm trapped in the mixer.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the accident at Block 114, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, at 1.05pm on Wednesday.

It dispatched two fire bikes, two fire engines, an ambulance and a support vehicle to the scene.

A woman in her 30s was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive her.

The boss of a neighbouring store, who gave her name as Madam Wu, told Wanbao that the injured woman had worked at the pastry store for many years.

Joyus Pastries, which sells goods like pineapple tarts, cookies and kueh lapis, has another outlet at Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, according to its site.

Its Ang Mo Kio outlet has been closed till Nov 1, a note on its website says.
