Future of economy and workforce

Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say will discuss the future of Singapore's economy and workforce as well as the country's human resource transformation at a dialogue today.

Mr Lim will do so at the two-day Singapore Human Capital Summit 2015, which opens today with the theme People Strategies For Asia: Transforming Growth.

Deadline to avert US govt shutdown

The United States Congress has until midnight today Washington time to agree on a budget to ward off a government shutdown. Earlier on Monday night, Senate Republicans and Democrats voted to advance the temporary spending measure after trading angry recriminations. But it still requires final approval by the Senate and the House, where some Republicans had pledged to block it.

Talk for investors on risk management

The Investment Association of Singapore is hosting a lunchtime talk today for its members themed Liquidity Risk Management For Collective Investment Schemes. The talk is timely after the Monetary Authority of Singapore last week unveiled tweaks to regulatory safeguards to protect investors in non-conventional products in the same way as in capital market products like shares.
