Modi in S'pore on first visit as premier

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Singapore today on his first visit to the Republic as premier, during which the two countries are set to elevate ties to a strategic partnership as they commemorate 50 years of diplomatic ties. Mr Modi will deliver the Singapore Lecture today, which will be attended by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and be given a ceremonial welcome at the Istana tomorrow.


Boys' Brigade Christmas project opens

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will officially open Singapore's largest Christmas charity project today with the launch of this year's Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) Main Box.

This year, the project seeks to reach out to 40,551 elderly and less fortunate Singaporeans during the festive period. The BBSG 2015 project will be held from Nov 23 to Dec 17.


Inflation figures to be released

The October figures for Singapore's consumer price index, which tracks inflation, will be released today. September's inflation data released last month had presented a mixed picture. On the one hand, the negative headline inflation the Republic had been experiencing since last November had not let up. On the other hand, core inflation rose to a six-month high of 0.6 per cent in September as services and retail products became pricier.
