Conference on women labour issues

Women in the labour force play an essential part in driving economic growth but gender gaps exist, such as in the number in leadership roles, and pay equality. Experts and companies from the Asia-Pacific region will discuss how to foster female talent at a conference co-hosted by Singapore National Employers Federation, the International Labour Organisation and Bureau for Employers' Activities.

President Tan to meet Chinese leaders

Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam will meet China's top leaders today, in his first state visit to China. He will attend a welcome ceremony, followed by a meeting with and a state banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping. He will also meet Premier Li Keqiang and top political adviser Yu Zhengsheng. The leaders are expected to review bilateral ties and look at future opportunities for cooperation.

Perennial may announce acquisition

Perennial Real Estate Holdings will make a major announcement today, possibly relating to an acquisition. The property company, which owns Capitol Theatre, will announce the news before the market opens.

The firm is eyeing more acquisitions after buying AXA Tower recently for $1.17 billion, together with a consortium of investors.
