Awards for healthcare professionals

Healthcare professionals who have provided exceptional care and service to patients will be honoured today at the Singapore Health Quality Service Award.

Senior Minister of State for Health Amy Khor will present the awards to 3,343 individuals, including nurses, allied health professionals and administrative staff from 23 healthcare institutions.


India marks Republic Day

India celebrates Republic Day today, honouring the date when the country's Constitution came into force in 1950. While festivities commemorating the event will be held across the country, the main celebration will take place in New Delhi, with a huge parade showcasing India's defence capability and cultural and social heritage. French President Francois Hollande is the chief guest at this year's parade.


Release of December factory figures

Singapore will today release its industrial production figures for last month.

Economists do not expect a reversal of a recent trend that saw a 10th straight month of decline in November. Factory output fell 5.5 per cent in November from the same month the year before, hit hard by weak activity in the electronics and transport engineering sectors.
