Madam Tham Lai Cheng, 77, her daughter Khwong Siew Fong, 50, and grandchildren Glenda Ong, 16, and Artemis Ong, 13, posing for a photo at the Balloon Underwater World event at Chua Chu Kang Community Club yesterday. A 10m-long whale sculpture was the centrepiece of the event, which featured more than 20 different sea creatures, all hand-sculpted using more than 20,000 balloons. The display was put together by some 80 residents from balloon interest groups in Chua Chu Kang, and was led by the Chua Chu Kang Community Club's Active Ageing Council to encourage active ageing. "The event has created good community bonding and brought a lot of us from the different balloon interest groups together," said Ms Mooi Yan, who led the project.
