SINGAPORE - A butterfly flutters its wings as it lands on the trouser leg of a woman soldier in army fatigues.

The first frame of a trailer for a new cyberpioneer TV series on women soldiers hints at the transformation that the women are in for from the training.

Into The Fray - The Making Of A Female Soldier documents the journey of women soldiers during their Basic Military Training (BMT).

There are about seven episodes, and each is seven minutes long.

A post of the trailer, shared on the CyberPioneer Facebook page on Jan 19, has been viewed more than 49,000 times.

The clip shows them training with their SAR21 rifles, doing pull-ups and going through obstacle courses.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has been recruiting more women as career soldiers as the pool of male enlistees shrinks, reports have said.

There are about 1,500 female combatants making up 7.5 per cent of SAF's regulars, according to figures from 2013.

Catch the first episode at www.youtube.com/user/cyberpioneertv, from 6pm on Thursday, Jan 22.

Each episode will be aired on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. An additional episode will be aired if there is a fifth Thursday that month.
