Kindergarten children at My First Skool in public housing project Treelodge@Punggol were all smiles yesterday when top Chinese official Meng Jianzhu (third from left) dropped in for a visit. The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is on a two-day visit here to co-chair the 3rd Singapore-China Social Governance Forum. Mr Meng, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Committee's Political and Legal Affairs Commission, had an entourage which included Mr Chen Xunqiu (second from left), deputy director of the CPC Central Committee for Comprehensive Social Governance. Accompanying the dignitaries from China were Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean (right), Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng (far left) and Pasir Ris- Punggol GRC MP Sun Xueling. Mr Meng also visited teacher Yeo Yee Peng, 43, and his family in their four-room flat, and chatted with them on housing affordability and their careers. "I'm honoured he came to our house. He's very down to earth," said Mr Yeo.
