SINGAPORE - A video circulating on social media alleging that a cyclist had molested a woman near the Braddell underpass on Tuesday (March 6) is false.

The Straits Times understands that the cyclist, a 23-year-old man, was instead involved in a dispute with a bus driver, as they were both travelling along Upper Serangoon Road in the direction of Potong Pasir.

The man was believed to be riding his bicycle in front of the bus at a slow speed when the bus driver honked at him to speed up.

Instead, the cyclist braked suddenly, causing the bus driver to apply his emergency brakes to avoid hitting him.

The bus driver then alighted from his vehicle, together with a few passengers, to confront the cyclist.

It was also at this point that one of the passengers captured a video of the scene with his mobile phone.

In the video, which was shared on the Roads.sg Facebook page on Monday night, an older man wearing a bright orange vest and two others can be seen gripping a younger man by the wrists.

The younger man then falls to the ground before he is pinned down.

The incident occurred near a bus stop, and, in the video, a yellow bicycle is seen lying at the side of the road.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police said they were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt at 6.50pm on Monday.

A 23-year-old man was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, they added.

The Straits Times understands that the cyclist had minor injuries, including abrasions.

Investigations are ongoing.
