Two women were arrested for attempting to smuggle about 450 grams of heroin and 52 grams of methamphetamine, or "Ice", into Singapore on Wednesday.

At about 2.20pm that day, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers stopped a Malaysian-registered taxi that was entering Singapore with four passengers at the car arrival zone of Woodlands Checkpoint. They were referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for checks.

When a female CNB officer conducted a search on a female Malaysian passenger, she found a bundle of heroin hidden in the 28-year-old's underwear. A separate bundle of heroin and a smaller bundle of Ice were also found hidden in the underwear of another female passenger - a 46-year-old Singaporean.

The seized drugs have a street value of about $57,600. Investigations on the two women are ongoing.
