Two new groups to be surveyed for Household Expenditure Survey 2013

Two more groups of households will be surveyed between July 8 and 22 for the 10th Household Expenditure Survey by the Singapore Department of Statistics. These households will be part of the 21st and 22nd groups to participate and are from areas like Beach Road, Boon Lay, Dover, Marine Parade, Seletar, Sengkang, Tampines, Tanjong Rhu, and Yishun.

The Singapore Department of Statistics is conducting this survey on 11,000 households from October 2012 to September 2013..

Conducted once every five years, the survey collects information on households' expenditure for updating the weighting pattern and the basket of goods and services used in the compilation of the Consumer Price Index. Data from the survey will also be used for social and economic policy planning and income and expenditure pattern studies.

Households that wish to verify the identity of the survey officers may call the survey hotline 1800-888-1213 from 8.30am to 10pm. Survey officers will also carry identification cards and letters of authorisation. All information collected will be kept in confidence, said a statement from the Department on Monday.
