Travel agent licence of A D Travel revoked by Singapore Tourism Board

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has revoked the travel agent licence of A D Travel Pte Ltd.

Its licence (number 02525) has been revoked with effect from Monday (Dec 7), STB said in a statement.

A D Travel's licence was suspended on July 30 as it had failed to meet the minimum financial requirements under travel agent regulations.

According to STB's licensing guide found online, "all licensees must always maintain a minimum paid-up capital and net worth of $100,000".

The Board also received complaints that the company was unable to settle agreed refunds.

During the period of suspension, A D Travel was required to fulfil its existing obligations to its customers but would not be allowed to accept new travel bookings.

It did not honour its repayment commitments and could not be contacted during that time, STB said.

It was also unable to provide evidence that it had met STB's minimum financial requirements.

The STB said it "adopts a serious view against errant travel agents and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect consumers' interests and safeguard the reputation of Singapore's tourism sector".
