SINGAPORE - A video showing the moment a Singapore Airlines (SIA) A330 plane collapsed at Changi Airport on Sunday morning (Oct 11) has surfaced online.

The video showed a ground staff near the plane running backwards when the front end of the aircraft collapsed.

It was posted on Facebook on Wednesday night.

According to SIA, the aircraft's nose gear retracted during a system check after maintenance work was carried out to rectify a defect.

There were no passengers or crew on board at the time. One engineer who was on the aircraft was not injured, SIA said in an earlier statement.

The plane, which was attached to a gate, had arrived from Shanghai's Pudong International Airport around midnight.

It was due to operate flight SQ890 to Hong Kong at 7.35am.

Another aircraft was used for the flight instead.

The collapsed plane had been in service for more than six years, according to records.
