SINGAPORE - Two new bus routes will be launched in Choa Chu Kang in February, with another service to be extended to serve upcoming developments.

Both feeder service 301 and trunk service 983, operated by SMRT, will start on Feb 15 and ply between Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange and Keat Hong Close.

Service 301 will travel along Choa Chu Kang Way, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5. The service will operate from 5.30am to 12.55am on weekdays, and from 5.45am to 12.55am on weekends and public holidays.

Service 983, on the other hand, will provide an alternative connection to Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange from Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 and Avenue 5. It will operate daily from 5.45am to 11.45pm.

There are also plans to extend service 983 to Bukit Panjang in the future, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement on Monday.

With the two new routes, the existing service 300 will be amended to operate as a dual-directional loop service, skipping Avenue 5 and the section of Avenue 3 between Choa Chu Kang Way and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1.

From Feb 16, service 982E, which connects to and from the Central Business District, will also be extended. The service will call at two additional pairs of bus stops along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5 and Keat Hong.

Over in Punggol, feeder service 386 will also be enhanced from Feb 15.

The service, which currently starts from Punggol Bus Interchange and plies Punggol Central and Edgefield Plains, will be extended to ply Punggol Drive, Edgedale Plains, Punggol Field, Punggol East and Punggol Central.

This will serve more developments in the Punggol East area and enhance connectivity to key amenities such as Punggol Waterway, Tebing Lane, Punggol Plaza, and schools such as Greendale Primary, Greendale Secondary and Horizon Primary, LTA said.
