SMRT, SBS extend bus and train service hours on New Year's Eve

SINGAPORE - Transport operators SMRT and SBS Transit will extend the operating hours of their train and bus services on New Year's Eve next Thursday.

There will also be a change in operating hours for selected bus services from both operators.

A number of bus services will have their routes temporarily diverted on the same day due to road closures for the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2016 and other countdown events happening around Singapore.

Trains

On the North-South Line, the last train will depart from City Hall station for Jurong East and Marina South Pier at 2.15am and 2am respectively on New Year's Day.

The last trains towards both Pasir Ris and Joo Koon stations on the East-West Line will leave City Hall at 2.15am. Circle Line commuters will be able to catch the last train from Dhoby Ghaut station at 1.41am, while the last train departs HarbourFront station at 1.38am.

The last train will leave Choa Chu Kang station for Ten Mile Junction on the Bukit Panjang LRT at 3.13am.

Train services on the SBS Transit-operated North East and newly-opened Downtown Lines will be extended by at least two hours.

Similarly, services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT stystems will be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line.

Buses

Selected bus services at five SMRT bus interchanges - Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Sembawang, Woodlands and Yishun - will extend their last bus timings to allow passengers on the last trains to board these buses.

For SBS Transit, 32 bus services - 2, 12, 33, 51A, 60A, 63M, 97, 133, 181, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359, 400 and 410W - will have their last bus timings extended at the respective bus interchanges or terminals.

The Six Nite Owl services will be extended to operate until 4am.

Bus diversions/Change in bus operating hours

The 13 SMRT bus services that will be temporarily diverted starting from 6pm on New Year's Eve till 1.30am the next day are: 75, 77, 106, 171, 700A, 857, 960, NR1, NR2, NR5, NR6, NR7 and NR8.

Two SMRT bus services - 177 and 981 - will also have their operating hours for evening trips adjusted.

Lastly, the following SMRT Premium, Express and Special bus services will be brought forward on New Year's Eve.

Meanwhile, the routes of 26 SBS Transit bus services will be diverted and skip certain bus stops due to road closures for four countdown events held in Boon Lay, Kovan, Marina Bay and West Coast.

Eleven SBS Transit bus services - 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 128, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513 - that serve the Central Business District will not operate during the evening peak hours.
