SINGAPORE - Both public transport operators SMRT and SBS Transit have submitted their applications for fare adjustments to the Public Transport Council (PTC).

The council said on Nov 19 that it had started its annual fare review exercise, and its decision on the applications will be announced in the first quarter of next year.

It has also said that the maximum fare adjustment next year will be 2.8 per cent.

"In discharging its responsibilities, the PTC will pay particular attention to fare affordability for the more vulnerable groups of commuters," it said in a statement in November this year.
