Singapore Airlines (SIA) was adjudged the world's second best airline at the 2017 World Airline Awards, retaking the No. 2 position it held in 2015 in the Skytrax World Airline Awards rankings.
SIA also bagged the awards for Best Airline in Asia, Best Business Class Airline Seat and Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering.
London-based research firm Skytrax named Qatar Airways as the world's best airline this year.
The airline is facing some difficulties after regional disputes saw it banned from flying to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

Japan's All Nippon Airways was placed third. The Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017, held at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday, saw some 20 million travellers belonging to 105 different nationalities casting votes in a number of categories.
Travellers ranked 320 airlinesin areas such as cabin comfort, staff grooming and selection of meals available.

3. ANA, All Nippon Airways
5. Cathay Pacific
6. EVA Air
8. Etihad Airways
9. Hainan Airlines
10. Garuda Indonesia
SIA had dropped to third place last year, after being overtaken by carriers Emirates and Qatar.
SIA has topped the rankings thrice before, having been voted best airline in the world in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
Skytrax has been carrying out its rankings since 1999.
