SINGAPORE - New parking coupons that reflect the imminent increase in public carpark charges will go on sale from Wednesday (Oct 12).

In a joint press release, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said the coupons will be available for purchase at all HDB branches and service centres, as well as the URA Centre and authorised coupon agents like petrol agents and convenience stores.

Motorists can also exchange their old, unused parking coupons for the new ones by topping up the difference in value at 155 locations across Singapore.

The coupon exchange at the 131 participating petrol stations will be from Dec 1 to Jan 31, while it can be done earlier from Oct 12 at the 23 HDB branches and service centres.

HDB and URA had announced on June 30 they were raising carpark charges for short-term and season parking schemes from Dec 1.

They attributed the increase to the costs of building, operating and managing public carparks due to increased inflation, as well as construction, manpower and other related maintenance costs.

For inquiries, the public can call HDB on 1800-225-5432 and URA on 6329-3434.
