Roads will be closed on Saturday for National Day Parade rehearsal

SINGAPORE - Roads around the Padang and the Sports Hub will be closed to traffic on Saturday (July 4) for a National Day Parade rehearsal.

The third combined rehearsal will take place at the Padang on Saturday, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said on Friday.

Connaught Drive, St Andrew's Road, a part of Fullerton Road, Empress Place, Old Parliament Lane, part of Parliament Place, and part of Coleman Street will be closed from 2am to 11.59pm.

Roads near the Sports Hub including Stadium Crescent and Stadium Walk are closed at selected times throughout the day.

Esplanade Drive, parts of Nicoll Highway, Bras Basah Road and Republic Avenue are also closed from 12pm to 11pm. Other roads affected include Mountbatten Road, Jalan Tiga and Cassia Link.

In addition, there are changes in vehicular traffic direction along certain roads.

People travelling to these affected areas are advised to use public transport.

Traffic delays are expected along Raffles Boulevard, Raffles Avenue, Bayfront Avenue, Republic Avenue, Bras Basah Road, Beach Road, North Bridge Road, Hill Street, Guillemard Road, Mountbatten Road, Old Airport Road, Stadium Walk and Stadium Way.

SPF advised motorists travelling to Suntec City and Marina Square to use an alternate route via the East Coast Parkway (ECP) expressway, Sheares Avenue or Rochor Road in view of the closure along Nicoll Highway and Bras Basah Road.

Those heading to Sports Hub are advised to use Stadium Road via Nicoll Highway in the direction of Guillemard Road or Stadium Way.

Only authorised vehicles displaying the approved labels as well as police and emergency vehicles will be allowed during the road closures.

Public bus services affected by the road closures will be diverted. Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed away.
