SINGAPORE - Commuters and residents living around the Ang Mo Kio train station will now be able to enjoy new shops, improved station infrastructure such as extended sheltered walkways, and an enhanced transit experience with free charging points and priority queues.

The new Ang Mo Kio Xchange and the upgraded station was launched on Friday morning.

Among the enhancements are 12 new retail amenities including food and beverage options and medical services, and improved facilities such as upgraded toilets, free charging points for mobile devices and extended shelter entrances.

"Twenty-seven years ago, Ang Mo Kio station was among the first set of operational stations on the North-South Line," said Mr Desmond Kuek, president and group chief executive officer of SMRT.

"We are proud to renew this station with better retail, infrastructure, transit experience, and eco-friendly station improvements."
