SINGAPORE - A 77-year-old man was injured on Friday (May 19) afternoon outside Bishan Bus Interchange after an accident involving a bus.

The SBS Transit bus was turning out of the interchange onto Bishan Street 13 when the accident occurred at about 1.55pm, according to an eyewitness.

Photos shared by a Straits Times reader showed that the rear bumper of the bus was cracked.

Pieces of it were also detached and a pool of blood could be seen on the tarmac beneath the bumper.

Traffic Police motorcycles could also be seen on the scene of the incident.

Responding to queries from ST, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said that the SCDF was alerted to the accident at 1.57pm.

An ambulance was dispatched to the accident site.

A Singapore Police Force spokesman told The Straits Times that at 1.57pm, the police were alerted to an accident involving a bus and a pedestrian on Bishan Street 13, outside Bishan Interchange.

A 77-year old man was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital while conscious.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Ms Tammy Tan, SBS Transit's senior vice-president of corporate communications, said in a statement to The Straits Times: "Our top priority now is the well-being of the injured pedestrian. We have been to the hospital and are in touch with his family and will render assistance to them as best as we can."

Ms Tan added that the company is assisting the Police in their investigations.
