SINGAPORE - A man was arrested for suspected drink driving on Thursday morning after an accident on Lornie Road that resulted in a major traffic jam in the direction towards Queensway.

"Accident on Lornie Road (towards Queensway) after MacRitchie viaduct with congestion till Woodleigh U/P. Avoid left lane," the Land Transport Authority tweeted at 7.09am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at 5.58am, and sent one ambulance. The accident happened at a bus stop before Wallace Way.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was sent to the Singapore General Hospital with chest pains, SCDF said.

Police said he was arrested for suspected drink driving. The Straits Times understands that his car had crashed into a barrier at the bus stop.

Police investigations are on going.
